Pay Rate: $20-$24 per hour

This is a temporary, full-time, 10-week assignment.

The Summer Academy Instructor will work under the supervision of Eugene and Ruth Roberts Summer Student Academy program grant Principal Investigator. This is a funded position to help talented High School and undergraduate students successfully make the transition to a professional environment doing research projects.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Serve as a role model for academic and leadership behaviors within a professional environment and meet with students outside of class as needed.
  • Work closely with the Academy staff to assist with courses, informational meetings, outside activities, student preparation for weekly presentations, poster presentation, events, etc.
  • Inspire students to approach research activities in a creative and rigorous fashion.
  • Be reasonably accessible to students and their mentors/supervisors.
  • Provide assistance, encouragement and suggestions for conflict resolution in cooperation with the PI.
  • Perform laboratory checks to ensure safety protocols are correctly followed and that the students are mentored appropriately.
  • Organize and chaperone off campus activities that are part of the Eugene and Ruth Roberts Summer Student Academy program.
  • Assist the functions of the Eugene and Ruth Roberts Summer Student Academy as time permits.

Your qualifications should include:

  • High School Diploma.
  • One to two years related experience.
  • Microsoft Office experience.
