Summary

The Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a part-time Research Assistant II for a non-laboratory research position. The individual hired will be responsible for providing research support for projects in the field of Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications of genomics.

Job Duties

  • Provide research support for ongoing projects, including organizing project files, scheduling project activities and meetings, taking meeting minutes, and coordinating with co-investigators, collaborators, and project personnel in multiple sites.
  • Develop and manage project databases, including tracking and reporting on project components to ensure timelines are adhered to and deadlines met.
  • Conduct comprehensive literature searches in the areas of bioethics, science, social science and health policy literature.
  • Contribute to qualitative (primarily interviews) and quantitative (primarily surveys) data analysis.
  • Manage document preparation and references for publications and new project proposals.
  • Manage presentation preparation, such as pulling data and drafting slides.
  • Serve as communications liaison to promote research team publications and presentations and help draft materials to this end.
  • Attend project meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field. 
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in bioethics, humanities, public health, social sciences or related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to display a professional, positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills and communication skills required and must be able to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
  • Extremely dependable with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
