As a CT Technician, you will be working with the department and medical staff to improve the care of patients by providing support, education and assistance daily. You will perform duties involving applying ionizing radiation for the purpose of detecting pathology. Your primary duties will include:
- Answering questions about scheduling, networking, and patient information.
- Effectively completing and ensuring that all electronic data is sent to its right destination.
- Showing knowledge of clinical procedures, equipment and policies.
- Documenting charts of procedure completion and follow-ups.
- Answering phone calls in a prompt and professional manner.

  • Performs computerized axial tomography (CT) procedures.
  • Obtains patient history and clinical data for correlation with exams. Scans all required paperwork into the RIS system. Compiles exam for reading by radiologist.
  • Critiques exam for film quality and proper identification.
  • Documents reasons for any variation in procedure.
  • Communicates with patients throughout exam. Assists patients, explains exam to patient and/or responsible party.
  • Complies with OSHA and hospital infection control policies.
  • Works unassisted; responds to calls on various shifts.
  • Keeps manager informed of equipment/safety problems.
  • Identifies, transports, lifts and positions patients for exams.
  • Performs duties of a radiologic technologist as required and qualified.
  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of procedure and patient care. Communicates with referring physician.
  • Evaluates patients for age-appropriate behavior, motor skills and physiological norms.
  • Assesses patients for signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect and reports findings to radiologist or staff physician.
  • Follows safe radiation practices in selection of radiographic techniques and protective shielding to self and patient.
  • Performs receptionist functions and clerical duties, film filing and purging.
  • Controls inventory and purchase of supplies as assigned.
  • Maintains cleanliness of room; stocks supplies.
  • Performs quality assurance duties as assigned.
  • Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure (ARRT must obtain within one year of appointment to position). Maintains CPR (BLS).
  • Follows hospital/system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
  • Other duties as assigned


Education:

  • Graduate of a formal program of study accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and accreditation of the AMA, or completion of didactic and clinical experience.


Certifications:

  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (R).
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in computer tomography within 24 months of appointment.
  • Current Radiology license in the State of Ohio.
  • BLS from AHA


Complexity of Work:

  • Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.
  • Registry in CT scanning preferred.


Work Experience:

  • Licensed in Diagnostic Radiology with the ARRT in order to be eligible for onsite training in CT Scanning.


Physical Requirements:

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
