Job Description

The University of Oklahoma invites applications for Associate or Full Professor of Piano and Director of the Piano Pedagogy Program in the School of Music, Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts.  We seek a dedicated teacher of piano pedagogy and group piano to join a program long known for the nurturing and development of generations of exceptional teachers and musicians.

Responsibilities

Teach graduate and undergraduate piano pedagogy and piano-pedagogy related courses according to the needs of the department. Coordinate the group piano program. Recruit undergraduate and graduate piano pedagogy and performance majors. Mentor graduate teaching assistants. Serve on undergraduate and graduate committees, including D.M.A./PhD doctoral committees, participate in doctoral document advising, and provide mentorship to students. Contribute to School, College, and University service. Establish a record of teaching, creative activity, and research productivity in national and international venues.

Required Qualifications

Earned D.M.A., D.M., or PhD in piano pedagogy, piano pedagogy and performance, piano performance with an emphasis/cognate in piano pedagogy, or related experience. Evidence of successful college teaching.

Desired Qualifications

Evidence of success in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate piano pedagogy and group piano, recruiting, and mentoring. Other desired qualifications may include experience guiding creative activity at the graduate level; record of creative/scholarly accomplishments, as demonstrated through national and international presentations at music conferences, publications, master classes, performances, recordings, and/or professional leadership. We are especially interested in candidates who will help cultivate the uniquely collaborative atmosphere in our piano program and who can contribute to the academic community, through their teaching, research, and service, and who will work to build relationships with other departments within the College and the University.
