Job Summary
University Information Technology (UIT) seeks a Software Design Engineer to assist with software development in University Support Services (USS). The engineer who obtains this position will work with third-party and internally developed software for various groups within the University; the engineer is responsible for working through issues with applications and services and collaborates with others to configure applications to fit business needs. Responsibilities
Use and develop software applications using technologies according to departmental standards. (Oracle PeopleSoft, Kronos, and others)
Meet with customers to gather requirements and document processes to facilitate development.
Provide support to customers on new and existing applications as the need arises in a managed delivery schedule.
Participate and coordinate development activities for upgrades of software applications.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Preferences
Strong emphasis on industry-standard software development methodologies and practices.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to capture user requirements.
