The SVP of Health Innovation reports directly to the President of Health Innovation & Policy and aims to pioneer high impact innovation, develop products and establish external partnerships that lead to sustainable business models for transforming access to, and quality of, cancer care treatment and augments City of Hope’s reputation for thought leadership. The leader is responsible for providing direction and leadership in international medicine and prospective markets for COH. Provides strategic visioning and leadership to the Product team and those across the system developing products and is a key contributor as a member of the senior management team.

Responsible for defining and executing on a highly collaborative product strategy that facilitates innovation across the entirety of City of Hope and results in a sustainable pipeline of innovation that can drive disruptive transformation as well as business diversification and new business revenue. Evaluates and adjusts product management strategy and plans to meet changing market and competitive conditions. Manages early-stage innovation concepts and product development to ensure City of Hope solutions are positioned as innovative and continue to meet targeted growth objectives. Leverages market intelligence and analysis to identify growth opportunities and enablers and refine and prioritize concepts in the innovation pipeline. In conjunction with the President and other senior leadership, engages in outreach activities to drive a sustainable culture of innovation across City of Hope and meaningful stakeholder relations. The SVP fosters a collaborative environment so innovative initiatives may be evaluated and transitioned to departments across the system for implementation and execution, with the Product Development team’s advisory services.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Lead the exploration of new product areas and initiatives, driving innovation and growth for COH.
    Drive collaboration by guiding cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive product strategy and vision, define requirements, and lead the teams through the development process to ensure a successful product launches and market adoption.
    Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence within the product team and across the organization.
  • Oversee market research to identify and understand administrative and technological industry trends related to the City of Hope portfolio. Continuously evaluate the market and make timely adjustment of product management strategy and plans to meet changing conditions.
  • Define a vision and product roadmap that addresses the needs of existing customers and aligns with the City of Hope competitive market strategy. Work with the team to create and revise product pricing models, incorporating user feedback.
  • Leads all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace, by developing products to meet specific customer needs and achieve specific cost and success outcomes. Once products are launched, they will monitor the efficacy of products and use customer and business partner feedback to ensure products are meeting customer needs across each customer.
  • Ensures that products and innovations are prioritized and aligned with the enterprise business needs and strategy.
  • Lead go-to market initiatives for product set, including segmentation, positioning, pricing, sales enablement, adoption, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the strategic design, development, implementation, and lifecycle management of all commercial-related products with a “fail fast” mentality.
  • Develop short- and long-term pricing, marketing, promotion, and placement strategies that grow market share.
  • In collaboration with corporate strategy, set revenue, market share growth and profitability targets for all business products.
  • Develop and regularly communicate key operational metrics that systematically measure performance versus plan against costs to monitor the success of the products.
  • Oversee with the international medicine function to ensure successful expansion and development of business opportunities and partnerships – as it relates to business development.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Health Administration, Information Systems, or a related field of study.
  • Ten or more years of progressive management experience and three or more years as a senior executive in product management within the healthcare industry, with experience in products that are sold directly to payers, providers, and large employer groups.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $198.22 - $254.42 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
