Job Summary
Under an established APRN protocol with a physician, the Nurse Practitioner provides primary healthcare services to patients and performs a variety of duties in the assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients in the ambulatory clinic setting. This position is a 3-year limited term opportunity vital to the primary care and mental health services of Student Health Services (SHS). This position is responsible for the direct clinical services to the patients at the clinic.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
PATIENT EVALUATION AND CARE: Evaluate patients through effective history taking, physical assessment and determination of appropriate differential diagnoses based on clinical guidelines. Perform routine gender-based health care as well as basic medical and minor surgical procedures, and mental health screening, triage, evaluation, and management within the scope of the APRN license. Provide telehealth services via approved platform to the patient population of Student Health Services.
DEVELOP TREATMENT PLANS: Analyze, interpret, and evaluate subjective and objective findings to develop an applicable treatment plan and disposition that is consistent with clinical care best practice guidelines. Provide appropriate physician or specialty provider referrals as needed. Participate in e-prescribing as a capability in serving the patient population of Student Health Services.
PREPARE AND EXECUTE ORDERS: Prepare and execute orders for laboratory studies, vaccines, diagnostic studies (including radiology, EKG), OTC and Rx medications, office treatments, and procedures pertaining to patient care.
EDUCATION AND PREVENTION: Promote healthy living through education and primary prevention. Provide patient education based on age-specific guidelines regarding medications, mistreatments, anticipated outcomes, and referrals.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: Performs administrative duties as dictated by clinical setting and Director. Participate in continuous quality improvement activities of the department. Attend and participate in staff meetings and committee meetings.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform all other job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Student Health Services or the University.
Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited Nurse practitioner program. Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body or Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program. Certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Active and unrestricted licensure to practice nursing from the Georgia Board of Nursing and via protocol with the Georgia Composite Medical Board. Must maintain status as a certified NP or PA, including completion of all requirements for continuing nursing and medical education or recertification. Must possess a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification. Must possess a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider ACLS certification or obtain within first year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in ambulatory care setting, preferably with college age population; experience in providing gender based healthcare and patient health education
Experience working in a team of health care providers
Experience using electronic health records.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Clinical experience (i.e., proficient in-patient evaluation procedures, medical terminology, interpretation of lab results and other diagnostic tests).
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases, to include electronic health records.
SKILLS
Must possess initiative, time management, and excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to set priorities, well-organized, and must strictly maintain confidentiality.
Detail-oriented.
Certifications/License
Must possess a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification.
Must possess a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider ACLS certification or obtain within first year of employment.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
*This position is a limited term position (estimated time frame no more than 3 years.
Shift: Days (Monday-Friday) *Work outside of the normal business hours may be required *
Pay Grade: 25
Salary: $80,202/annually - $108,000/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
