The Augusta University- Medical College of Georgia and Georgia Southern University (AU/MCG-GS Savannah Partnership) in Savannah, Georgia is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor who will be a medical educator also serving in the administrative post role of Pre-clerkship Module Director. The Pre-clerkship Module Director is the administrative leader for the education module. The Pre-clerkship Module Director role will report to the Campus Assistant Dean for Pre-Clerkship for the AU/MCG-GS Savannah Partnership. The Medical College of Georgia's basic science and clinical departments are the academic units of medical educator faculty. Faculty members creatively and innovatively advance the educational mission of the MCG MD program. Each medical educator is expected to contribute to educational research, faculty development, or both. Ideally, each educator faculty will have some interdisciplinary educational focus, and all will contribute directly to key aspects of MD curriculum delivery. This position is not considered to be on tenure track.

Responsibilities

Pre-Clerkship Curriculum Design - Create module schedules by contacting faculty to present foundational and/or clinical science material to medical students. Collaborate with faculty to develop learning objectives and develop syllabi. Collaborate with administrative staff to post pertinent information on the learning management system. Map lecture learning objectives to the MCG Competency-based Objectives.

Pre-Clerkship Curriculum Administration - Work with Assistant Deans for Curriculum and component directors to evaluate module and module faculty and make recommendations and implement changes that reduce unplanned redundancy, improve overall module organization, content, sequencing, for the following year. Attend all classroom activities and ensure technology is ready for speakers in collaboration with IT. Communicate with class concerning module information, information regarding quizzes and exams, etc. Review evaluative data of faculty, module, and module director once finalized.

Pre-Clerkship Teaching- Teach pre-clerkship curriculum in applicable field, in the Medical College of Georgia. Participate on various committees and provide public and professional service to the community and the department/college/University/USG.

Required Qualifications

An MD, DO, PhD, MD/PhD, PharmD or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
Board certification for physicians. Proven experience in medical education or other health sciences-related educational programs. Evidence of ability as an educator.

Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.

Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;

- Evidence of ability as a teacher;

- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;

- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,

- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. Amount of time worked is based on work commitment.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is between 0.5-0.74 FTE and is considered partially benefits eligible. The FTE will be determined at the time of hire after discussions during the interview process with the successful candidate. The selected candidate will select from a retirement plan and accrue leave at a prorated amount based on finalized FTE.

Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire and are based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, etc. while also considering internal equity and market data.
