The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University, we provide dental education to the next generation of professionals by offering hands-on education through innovative research, patient care, and service. Join other dental providers to improve the oral health of Georgia and beyond. The DCG was founded to provide the people of Georgia with quality dental care by educating students in dentistry. As a patient, you have the option to receive treatment in one of our three different practice models consisting of student clinics, resident care, or in the faculty practice. All dental treatments can be completed by the specialists in our facility. We also serve patients in more than 20 clinics across Georgia.
Job Summary
This position is integral to the mission of the Dental College of Georgia offering an unsurpassed clinical education to our students while providing high quality patient-centered care to all patients. The Patient Care Coordinator assists their assigned junior or senior students (30-33) manage their patient populations of 20-30 patients. The successful management of these patients is paramount to the clinical education program and to the student's on-time graduation. In this role the PCC must balance their responsibilities of advocating for the patient, the student, and the Dental College. This individual receives general direction from either the Director for Patient Services or the Associate Dean for Patient Services but consistently must apply independent critical thinking and discretion in an environment that demands confidentiality.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
QUALITY ASSURANCE TASK: Act as primary gatekeeper with responsibility for the QA of the pre-doctoral clinical program. Reviews all assigned student patient electronic health records for administrative compliance. Apply extensive dental knowledge to code dental procedures on patient treatment plans and student clinical documentation. Apply dental knowledge to review dental radiographs. Ensure student compliance of the College's patient recall policies. Audit internal and external treatment referrals for accuracy and ensure timely follow up. Managing student patient population to ensure adequacy of clinical experiences to meet graduation expectations.
ACT AS STUDENT PATIENT CARE MANAGER: Organizing and reviewing all records for clinical activity and administrative compliance. Overseeing and documenting the correction of any identified discrepancies by students or faculty as an integral part of the College's quality control program.
MONITORING PATIENT CARE ACTIVITIES: Monitoring patient care activities to ensure the delivery of timely patient-centered care. Provides Patient Services faculty with the critical data required to make new patient assignments that ensures students receive clinical training on a diverse patient population and that supplies the clinical experiences necessary for their education. Regularly develop a student statistical production report using a database and spreadsheet software that is used by faculty to determine semester grades and graduation requirements.
EDUCATES PATIENTS ON DCG POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: Compliance Counseling Briefings. Briefings to explain the different programs in Removable Prosthodontics. Interfaces with the Business Office to coordinate compliance with financial policies the allow for the patient's continued care and student's continued education.
PATIENT ADVOCACY: First contact liaison between student, patient, and faculty (intervening as necessary) on issues relating to patient complaints, student care providers concerns and/or operational issues. Responds to telephone and written inquiries from patients concerning their treatment. Intervene as necessary by taking measures or coordinating the involvement of the appropriate personnel or department to rectify the situation.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned by either the Director for Patient Services or Associate Dean for Patient Services.
Required Qualifications
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in dental hygiene or other related field with a minimum of five years' experience in dentistry. OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 3 years' experience in dental health care.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor or Master's degree in a health care profession with a minimum of seven years of dental practice experience.

Pay Grade: 15
Salary: Minimum $18.71/hourly - Midpoint $25.26/hourly
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
