Job Description
Primary Purpose of PositionThe System Administrator for Engineering Computing plays a crucial role in maintaining the diverse computing infrastructure within the College of Engineering.
This role is responsible for providing technical support for desktop systems, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), IoT devices, and networking infrastructure.
The System Administrator ensures reliable operation and efficient use of technology by faculty, staff, and students while maintaining documentation. Additionally, the System Administrator will be responsible for installing, testing, coding, debugging, and managing existing applications, servers, and infrastructure, working with stakeholders to implement solutions that support the College’s mission.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
North Carolina A & T State University (NCA&TSU) is a public land grant high research activity university that enrolls approximately 14,000 students. NCA&TSU is committed to dedicated teaching and learning, scholarly and creative research, and effective engagement and public service.
The College of Engineering (COE), with approximately 2,500 students, has 5 Doctoral programs, 8 Masters of Science Degree programs, and EAC ABET accredited undergraduate programs in Architectural, Bio-, Biological, Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering, as well as a CAC ABET-accredited program Computer Science. Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
3 years experience in technical support role (Windows, Linux and/or MacOS)
Experience with IoT devices
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
5 years experience in technical support role (Windows, Linux and/or MacOS) in an academic or commercial environment
Experience with software development lifecycles and project management
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Required License or Certification
