Job Description
The Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine is a seeking a Nurse Practitioner to work with attending physicians, residents, nurses, respiratory therapists, and others in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), to provide patient care in various intensive care units, including surgical, burn, and neuro.Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Works independently with supervision and medical direction by Critical Care Attending Physicians.
Coordinates patient care provided by a multi-disciplinary team of specialty care practitioners.
Obtains medical histories and perform physical examinations.
Orders and interprets laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic studies.
Interprets information from invasive and non-invasive monitors.
Initiates or modifies routine, complex, and emergent medication regimens and therapies.
Performs emergent, urgent, and routine procedures, if credentialed to do so.
Assumes responsibility and accountability for organizing time and workload to meet patient, staff, and departmental needs.
Serves as an educational and clinical resource to nursing and multi-disciplinary staff as well as to patients and their families.
Provides leadership, guidance, and teaching to the junior NP/PA staff, PA and medical students, as well as residents rotating in the units.
Assists NP/PA manager with formulation of PA policies within the ACCM department and other administrative matters.
Serves as a sub-investigator for clinical trials.
Applicants must have advanced clinical skills and have demonstrated the ability to apply theoretical concepts as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team providing care to patients and their families.
Applicants must have the ability to diagnose patients and to implement a medical care plan for the long and short-term care of acute and chronic health conditions in the intensive care unit.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Nursing; Registered Nurse license and certified as a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner.
Must be licensed as NP in State of Maryland or other state where practicing.
Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR certification required.
Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment.
Completion of the credentialing process is required prior to start date.
