Job Description

Job Summary
Under direct supervision from a Steam and Power Plant V or IV, performs skilled work in the repair, operation and maintenance of high pressure steam boilers and equipment in the Heating Plant. Maintains, repairs, and operates HVAC and building mechanical systems throughout all of the campus facilities.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$43.96 per hour

Required Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Two (2) years (24 months) of experience in the maintenance and operation of steam and power plant equipment.
3. One (1) year (12 months) of work experience comparable to the next lower level of the series (maintain high-pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment needed to provide steam, hot water, and heating).
4. Valid driver's license.
5. A final candidate must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical exam. Employment is contingent on the successful result of the pre-employment physical.

Preferred Qualifications
1. Vocational training in general science and physics.
2. Computer Operation knowledge.
3. Ability to work with a wide variety of University personnel.
4. Ability to organize and plan.
5. Ability to resolve problems and follow-up with outcome.

Work Hours
3:00 pm-11:00 pm (2nd shift), off Wednesday-Thursday

Functional Expectations
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

1. Ability to lift 100 pounds.
2. Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds.
3. Ability to climb, bend, crouch, kneel, and reach overhead.
4. Visual acuity to discern basic wiring and piping color code.
5. Work in confined spaces.
6. Work in both hot or cold environments, exposed to the elements.
7. Ability to speak and hear clearly.
