Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
The University of South Carolina Lancaster, a Palmetto College campus of the University of South Carolina located approximately thirty-five (35) miles south of Charlotte, NC seeks candidates for a faculty position in Computer Science for a 9-month appointment at the rank of either Assistant Professor or Instructor of Computer Science beginning August 16, 2026 or January 1, 2027.

The successful candidate will typically teach twelve credit hours of undergraduate (freshmen and sophomore) computer science courses per semester or its equivalent, including evening and distributed learning courses, as well as courses for dual-credit high school students at both Indian Land and main Lancaster campus locations. In addition to these foundational courses, there may be opportunities to teach upper-level courses in the University’s Palmetto College online bachelor’s degree programs.

Instructors must have a commitment to university/community service.

Assistant Professors must have a commitment to scholarship and university/community service.


Required Education and Experience
Applicants for the professional-track Instructor rank must have a Master’s degree in computer science by the time of appointment (ABDs considered).

Applicants fort the tenure-track Assistant Professor rank must hold a PhD in computer science with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in computer science by the start date of employment (ABDs considered).
