What Your Job Will Be Like:
Within the Advanced Science and Technology Division, the Radiation and Electrical Sciences Center is seeking a Senior Manager to lead the RAMSES Code Development & Analysis Group. The group helps ensure electrical components and systems can survive harsh radiation environments through the development and application of predictive modeling and simulation tools, enabling accurate analysis and informed decision-making. They achieve this through the development, maintenance, and use of the Radiation Analysis, Modeling and Simulation for Electrical Systems (RAMSES) code suite. The RAMSES code suite is one of the key products of the Advanced Simulation and Computing (ASC) program and is a high-performance computing application suite that supports Sandia's mission to advance the science, engineering, and technology of electrical systems that can survive intense radiation environments. The group's overarching goal is to support the design, analysis, and predictive performance assessment of full system electrical components.
On any given day, you may be called on to execute the following:
- Lead Integrated Teams: Oversee a collaborative team of managers and Group leaders to ensure alignment with mission objectives.
- Capability Development: Lead the development of science-based computer simulation codes to model and analyze the effects of ionizing and electromagnetic radiation on materials, electronics, and related systems. Engage and drive the development and use of these codes in combination with high performance computing to model complex physics environments and responses.
- Strategic Leadership: Drive the development and execution of group strategy, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. Lead as a key stakeholder in the Advanced Simulation and Computing (ASC) program in delivering capability and answers to Sandia¿s nuclear deterrence programs.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and nurture strong partnerships with Sandia Program Offices, DOE/NNSA Defense Programs Office and other DoD partners to co-develop solutions to meet their needs.
- Synergy Creation: Continue to develop an integrated and collaborative set of approaches across the RAMSES code teams as well as with the broader ASC development community. Encourage collaboration between projects and products within the group to enhance overall impact.
- Portfolio Execution: Enable the analysis of radiation hardened electrical components, radiation environment specification, and material response to radiation environments for the Nuclear Deterrence Mission
- Program Oversight: Serve as the RAMSES Product Lead as part of DOE/NNSA¿s Advanced Scientific Computing (ASC) program and part of the ASC leadership team at Sandia.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite at Sandia New Mexico.
Salary Range:

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- A PhD in physics, engineering, applied mathematics, computational science or a closely related technical field, and six years' relevant experience
- Experience developing strategy, planning, and program development with external customers

About Our Team:
The Radiation & Electrical Sciences Center 1300 develops technologies and operates facilities needed to assess and qualify the performance of nuclear weapons in electromagnetic and severe radiation environments. The Center develops theory, analytical techniques and computer codes to model the effects of radiation, electromagnetics and lightning on nuclear weapons components and systems. The Center also conducts experiments to develop and validate these models and applies a broad range of experimental and computational tools to assess the performance of weapons in normal, abnormal and hostile environments. Special technologies that are resistant to radiation environments are also developed.
Posting Duration:
This posting will be open for application submissions for a minimum of three (3) calendar days, including the 'posting date'. Sandia reserves the right to extend the posting date at any time.
Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.
