The Dietetic Technician provides direct nutritional care to adult inpatient populations at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus under the guidance of a registered dietitian. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members including nurses, physicians, and food service staff to support patient nutrition needs, ensureaccuratemeal delivery, andmonitorongoing nutrition care. This role involves direct patient interaction and plays a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

A caregiver in this position works8:00am to 4:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide patient care using medical nutrition therapy for moderate/low-risk populations under a registered dietitian.
  • Implement and communicate nutrition care plans with the healthcare team.
  • Maintain documentation, follow-up systems, and diet/order entry records.
  • Serve asa liaisonbetween food service staff and clinical/dietitian teams.
  • Ensurepatient mealscomply withprescribed diets; communicates needed diet changes.
  • Manage menu entry andprocessesdiet/nourishment updates.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives, committees, and projects.
  • Support dietetic internshipprogramsas a preceptor.
  • Track productivity andcompletesrequired reports.
  • Participate in professional development, rounds, conferences, and research.
  • Use clinical and dietetic software to support patient care and analysis.
  • Ensurecompliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
  • Maintain, update, andauditdepartment systems and nutrition registry data.
  • Perform nutrition analysis, data coding, validation checks, and error correction.
  • Completeadditionalduties as assigned.


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor'sof Science Degree in Nutrition or related field
  • ORAssociate's Degreein Dietetic Technology
  • Dietetic Technician Registered (DTR)requiredwithin 6 months of hire
  • Afterselectionand placement in the job, minimum three month's on-the-job trainingrequired, including classroom work, assignments, variousshiftsand rotation to various patient care areas
  • Maintains ongoing continuing education in nutrition-related practice areas
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of electronic communication tools
  • Effectively follows direction and works independently with minimal supervision in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; collaborates effectively, communicates issues clearly, and resolves conflictsin a timely manner

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to navigate extensively to provide services to a large number of patients throughout the hospital and manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer entry.
  • Must have physical ability to measure and weigh patients.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $16.47

Maximum hourly: $23.61
