Job Description

Primary Purpose of the Organization:
Fayetteville State University’s Office of College Access Programs is designed to provide low­ income/potential first-generation college students (enrolled in grades 6-12) with academic support services that will enhance their academic skills, thereby ensuring that these students will complete high school and enroll in and complete programs of postsecondary education.
The TRIO Upward Bound Math & Science Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education for the purpose of providing academic support services to strengthen the math & science skills of participating students. The purpose of TRIO Upward Bound Math & Science is to help students recognize and develop their potential to excel in field in math and science and to encourage them to pursue post-secondary degrees in science technology, engineering and math (STEM).
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the day-to­ day operations of the TRIO Upward Bound Math & Science Program. The director works with secondary school students to improve their academic preparation and provide academic support sessions to help prepare them for post-secondary education. In addition, the director develops and implements support services which strengthens the math & science skills of participating students, increase the percentage of high school students who graduate from high school, apply to and enroll into college.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements:
Master’s degree in Education, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Business Administration, Communications, Mathematics, Science, or a related field.
Three (3) to five (5) years of administrative or program management experience in an educational setting.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
Knowledge of college access initiatives and the PK–16 educational pipeline.
Working knowledge of TRIO regulations, EDGAR, and federal grant requirements.
Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Ability to analyze data, solve problems, and manage multiple priorities.
Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and build collaborative relationships with schools, families, colleges, and community organizations.
Demonstrated commitment to promoting STEM education, college readiness, and student success.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing programs and initiatives designed to prepare low-income students for college; at least two years administrative experience in an educational setting working with students.
Experience in grant writing and grant administration, including budget management; experience working with TRIO, or any other college access programs.
Experience in working with middle and high school students, parents, educators, administrators and teachers.
Experience working with university administrators and faculty members, public school administrators and teachers.
Experience collecting and analyzing data using various statistical procedures.
Experience preparing annual reports and performance reports for funding agencies.
Experience hiring, training and supervising staff.
