The section of speech-language pathology within the Head and Neck Department of the Integrated Surgical Institute at Cleveland Clinic announces an opening for a full time (40 hours per week) inpatient pediatric position on Main Campus. The position offers the opportunity to work as a part of the multidisciplinary team participating in state-of-the-art clinical care. We are seeking an experienced clinician with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of varied disorders in pediatric acute care, including the assessment and management of dysphagia, speech- language and cognitive disorders, tracheostomy, and ventilator dependency. This position will also cover outpatient modified barium swallow studies. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in pediatric feeding & swallowing, including the completion and interpretation of modified barium swallow examinations. Candidates must hold a CCC – SLP and be eligible for licensure in Ohio. Unfortunately, this position is unable to accommodate CF’s or anyone without significant hospital-inpatient experience at this time.

This is a full-time role. A caregiver in this position will work 8:00am to 5:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Perform diagnostic speech pathology test procedures andevaluatecommunication and swallowing function of patients.
  • Interpret andreports ontest results tofacilitatemedical diagnosis.
  • Provide counseling and education about communication anddiagnosisto patients and their families.
  • Determinetherapeutic plan, including need for therapy, frequency of treatment, focus for intervention,prognosisand duration of therapy.
  • Select assistive speech devices to improvepatientcommunication.
  • Perform re-evaluation todetermineprogress after therapy.
  • Provide observations about hearing and other behavior to helpdeterminethe needfor other services.
  • Maintain records of all services.
  • Communicate results and recommendations for improving communicative function to referral sources and outside agencies such schools and employers.
  • Maintain speech pathology equipment and materials.
  • Assistwith planning, budget, service or project development, fee setting, purchase of new equipment or materials.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Master’sDegree inSpeech/LanguagePathology
  • Current Speech-Language Pathology License (SP)from the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology
  • Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Completion of anine-monthclinical fellowship year

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to perform tests.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum Annual Salary: $63,250.00

Maximum Annual Salary: $96,467.50
